Achmea selected Be Informed to develop a self-service portal for its international customers in the transport sector. The self-service portal allows customers to insure worldwide shipments directly and 24/7, without having underwriters to accept the risk first.
This real time embedded risk assessment is made possible by capturing the generic and customer specific acceptance criteria into the system, which are usually applied by the experienced, well-trained employees of Achmea.
Registering shipments is performed by authorized employees of the customer. A shipment is automatically and instantly accepted, pending it meeting the acceptance criteria. If it does not then it will be routed to an underwriter to assess the risk and decide if it can be accepted. The system produces the required insurance certificates and invoices for accepted shipments. In addition, the customers are supported with online financial and/or insurance reports.
With the self-service portal Achmea provides a high quality worldwide 24/7 service to its customers, while simultaneously saving costs as fewer skilled underwriting staff are required.
