Paul Haley: “elegant and effective”

Be Informed is the best commercially deployed work in separating business process description from procedural implementation. […] In my opinion, [Be Informed] is more elegant and effective than the generic BPMN approach.

Brand Niemann

Brand Niemann: “They really get it”

I first heard of Be Informed in 2009, during a conference at Computer Sciences Corporation. Mills Davis and I were very impressed with what they were working on for the Dutch Immigration Office. Among some 30 vendors, Be Informed really stood out with an impressive demo showing the use of ontologies and separating the know from the flow.

Gartner

Gartner IND report

A recent Gartner report quotes the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) as an example.

INDiGO separates knowledge (know) from business processes (flow). The know includes all rules, laws and regulations. The flow encompasses activities required to process applications, including data entry.

When data such as age, nationality and date of application are entered, a dialogue with the knowledge management system evolves. This produces a decision-making plan that outlines the activities to be performed, the business services involved and the criteria to be met. The far-reaching automation of these decisions allows the staff to focus on critical decision making instead of on repetitive processes.

Forrester

Forrester Research

Forrester Research mentions Be Informed in the recent Dynamic Case Management (DCM) report, in the area of “ECM and BPM providers with strong core DCM capabilities”.

According to Forrester, Be Informed focuses on goal-driven processes and delivers a strong and flexible DCM platform.

The report also argues that the Be Informed platform successfully uses conditions to manage the status of cases. Repetitive elements are automated using processes and tasks that can change these statuses, as can be done by external systems or events.

Gartner cool vendor

Gartner Cool Vendor 2009

Be Informed has been added to the list of “Cool Vendors” in the Gartner Inc. report “Cool Vendors in Business Process Management, 2009”. Companies selected for inclusion in the “Cool Vendor report” are innovative, intriguing and have impact.

Organizations that require ways to manage, improve, control and support their unstructured, knowledge-intensive processes should take a serious look at the innovations that Be Informed is bringing to this underexploited area of BPM.

Be Informed’s approach is different: It supports the use of all types of knowledge (concepts, hypotheses, principles, explanations, guidelines and storyboards) by all types of knowledge workers (incl. laymen, operational knowledge workers, specialist professionals and researchers).
