Last week, our event Architecture 2012 took place in Utrecht, sponsored by Value &Result, Capgemini, Logica, Ordina and Sogeti. It was a great day in more than one sense. Both the sun and our partners and clients showed up in good spirit. The crowd was welcomed by Jan Verbeek, who introduced Rik’s update on the international development of Be Informed.
Be Informed’s growth follows two lines, Rik said. Geographically, where the company has met its ambition to establish branch offices in both the US and the UK, and developpartnerships with Platon for the Scandinavian markets, BearingPoint for theCarribbean, and agent Ertugrul Sezik for Turkey and the initiation for the disclosure of the Middle East markets. The second line Rik referred to is formed by a focus on solutions. Ease of implementation is an important issue for Be Informed. The answer to this challenge is diverse; on the one hand we focus on offering governments and financial services organizations solutions that are easy to use, on the other hand we have developed our Be Structured methodology in order to facilitate easy implementations. The development ofpartner solutions like Multi Subsidy (CapGemini) and iForms (SDU) facilitates Be Informed’s growth and success even further.
Following Rik’s update, Jan brought the audience up to speed with the Be Informed roadmap, which showedconsistency with Rik’s message. Be Informed 4s (the ‘s’ indicates the ‘solution’ orientation of the platform) was designed to support user experience and ease of implementation through features like Be Informed Workplace, Ready 2 Run and the ‘explain engine’; presenting the logic of modelling through natural language.
Gordon McKenzie then signaled the rising expectations that citizens, administrative professionals and leaders have towards government institutions. The importance of government is increasing, yet their performance is lagging behind. They seem ‘disconnected’ from reality. But is technology helping to bridge the gap, or is it widening the gap even further? Gordon indicated that model driven business applications allow the public sector to focus on their core business again, proudly introducing Semantis, Be Informed’s public service platform.
Next, John Bambridge of the European Patent Office explained how their organization embarks on the exciting journey of completely redesigning their primary processes. The business case for this exercise, John told the audience, wasmainly to be able to handle the ever increasing workload for their 7,000 employees without having to hire extra staff or new offices. His story proved once again that ‘ease’ and ‘doing more with less’ are currently the primary sought after features of government solutions worldwide.
This year saw a first for various parallel sessions during our client and partner event. Attendants were given a choice to attend 3 so called tracks:
- Solutions
- Methodology
- Innovations
ach track offered 4 parallel sessions providing in depth explanation of various aspects of these subjects.
After these sessions, Jörgen Klaver of the new O&I and Caesar joint venture – and main sponsor of Architecture 2012 - Value & Result shared his expertise on agile business and delivered a promising message on Be Informed implementations in the future.
Finally, Peter Stolk, Senior Projectmanager at Kadaster, presented the remarkable story of how his organization addresses the complete overhaul of its primary processes. He admitted that at first, Be Informed’s claims were not taken seriously, but after an initial CRP we could not be ignored anymore and in the end were convinced of our approach and solutions.
Frank wrapped up an inspirational day with his thoughts on the postmodern business environment, after which everyone enjoyed drinks and dinner in the sunny garden.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to making Architecture 2012 a great success!
